  • “Great time great deal !”

Used a Living Social voucher . Dinner bed and breakfast . Includes entrance to the nightclub . Loved it ! Rooms spacious and VERY clean , bed comfy beautiful linen . Our room was very quiet overlooking the river . Dinner was lovely they catered for coeliac very well with a waiter coming out to explain the menu . Cocktails nice with staff covering for absence ( mixologist away ) with good humour . Nightclub was fun - the music was my taste ( 55 year old nanny ) as I am quite young at heart but I could see that some older hen party attendees didn't like it ! Later on the music changed to more heavy dance but that was acceptable . Great to people watch ! Girls on their towering heels ! Break fast was excellent , gluten free bread lovely thick bacon , delicious sausages . Yes you have to toast your own bread but so what I think the conveyor belt toaster is fun ! Staff are lovely , happy and smiley having worked in customer service for many years that quality in all the staff is hard to manage and find . The hotel looks great from the outside and inside I loved it ! Open fires suit of armour along with tacky chandeliers , lovely glass windows Loved looking around . Travel lodges are so boring compared to this hotel . I wish I had heard of it for my wedding a few years ago . My hubbie and I travel a lot and this hotel ranks very very high into my all times favs . Keep up the good work xx

  • “ON A COURSE LOCALLY”

Two ladies travelling to Stockport for a leisure course had a lovely two night stay here. Rooms were clean, warm and spacious. Staff could not have been better. Staff on the desk were so helpful and friendly as were the staff at breakfast. We ate in the bar and thoroughly enjoyed the food, especially the Indian meals and again attentive, helpful staff. Would stay there again.

  • “Room full of character”

Stayed here for one night to be nearer Manchester airport for a lunchtime flight.

A clue is in the name. This is a hall, some parts of which date back to the 16th century. As you walk around the hotel you find suits of armour, old prints and documents and parts of the old building discovered during work. This is not a modern Travelodge.

As this was our first visit we were upgraded to the Louise suite. Bear in mind when we booked the hotel we expected to get a typical cramped, little room. Instead the Louise suite has a lounge with a large bathroom off it and a large bedroom either side. Yes, there are stains on the carpet presumably from water overflow and it could really do with decorating but it has so much character! The mirrors, the lamp stands are glitzy, all from a different era. And I couldn’t complain about the room safe being too small, the safe is 3 ft. high! The beds and pillows were very comfortable.

A good buffet breakfast the next morning and I have to say all the staff I met were friendly.
